if you really insist on jamming your new rig into a shoebox, this may help....
(50mm or less)

9800x3d full load temps were all equal, so go by clock speed:

Shadow Rock LP is 50mm with the fan removed, and does a fantastic job (with the fan installed). If it had room to mount a fan under the fins, it'd probably beat all these coolers.

Pretty sure Noctua and Tt both make coolers like that.

Hmmmm, food for thought. Kinda wish I had gone with Thermalright AXP90 X47 instead of the Noctua now.

Next time I go with a 65w in an itx shoehorn build, I'll give one a try

Noctua's lowest height cooler with a full thickness 92mm fan on the underside of the heatsink, is 66mm. And its generally a few degrees warmer than a 47mm tall copper thermalright, which has a 15mm thick 92mm fan.

Yeah, they have one (well, two, but only diff is the fan included) that's a bit taller at 70 which probably does better than the 66mm one, probably the one I was thinking of. I think the reason I went with the be quiet is because that one was too tall.
