Diablo IV - The Real Official Thread

I recently went back and did a playthrough of Diablo 1 and then D2R again for the hell of it.

I don't think I'll ever get on-board with Diablo 4 and the whole season thing where your character is just wiped to the eternal(useless) realm at the start of the next season.

Maybe if I didn't have a job and family I would be down for it.

It takes like a couple of hours to get a character to max level in d4. A season lasts like a couple days really. It's designed for people who are busy. The problem with it is that the game sucks.

I played when it came out and it was a total grind to the highest lvl as a mage.

Never went back.

I so loved the series though. I think once you play with someone higher lvl or the ones who power lvl it loses its luster. More fun as a co-op single player game vs one where you get wiped and need to get higher items. For higher dungeons.

Looking back at these early rumors and reactions is wild. Some folks were hyped from the first art book leak, others were understandably skeptical after Blizzard’s recent missteps. I’m just excited to see the franchise evolve and hope it delivers that classic isometric ARPG feel we’ve all been missing.

D2R was the right call IMO. It's pretty much perfect. Some rotating dungeons or daily challenges being added would be sweet, but otherwise is a perfect game to me.

It's funny to me that people will complain about the grind in D4 and in the same breath say D2R is perfect. You have to play through the game 3 times in D2R. With the seasonal mechanics in D4 it only takes a few hours. In D2R it takes a few days.

Yeah because D2 has excellent itemization. You feel like you're actually rewarded for your time. The game is fun.

Remember when D4 first came out and every item was a math test? They never really found their footing...its like they deliberately felt the need to stray far away from what made D1/D2 amazing. It felt like they were in COMPETITION with D1/D2 instead of trying to build from it.

They rode the coat tails of the creators of the series kind of like D3 did. Why not add on to what made the previous games awesome instead of trying to change everything?

100%. I feel like when D4 launched, they were trying to lure all the savants from PoE over. The high end players from PoE have spreadsheets that make the most hardcore of Satisfactory players look like nubs.

Hell yeah, we do! Got them for POE 2 as well.

I am a fan of the Diablo series. D4 doesn't keep my interest at all.

D3 was in a completely different state before Activision bought Blizzard. It was very D2-esq. Activision wanted it turned into the RMAH cartoony thing that it was when it launched.

Ooooookay. I am conceding that they are finally moving in the right direction.

Paladin class is very well done. The change to endgame where it is more focused on farming bosses, I personally enjoy.

A tiny sliver of me still hopes this ends up like Diablo 3, rocky start, but eventually become something fun.

The new Paladin class is actually a LOT of fun... been a LONG time since I played, so I'm actually having a blast. And the HOCP clan/guild/whatever is still intact. :)

It definitely makes the end game content far easier.

I suffered from choosing to start the Barb this season. Switched over to Paladin, and even trash gear, I was clearing Pit 70+, whereas with the Barb, I was struggling with Pit 30.

I'll probably come back for the expansion, I haven't liked the game so far but I want to like the game. Sitting in hell tide gets old fast.

Fortunately, the Season Journey can be completed really quickly now. If you're carried, it only takes an hour or two. It used to be you had to fulfill a ton of requirements, but now you only need to clear out a few dungeons and kill a couple bosses, all of which you can be carried through.

Do i still have to find all of those dumb statues? I never got all of them

No. The points are now accomplished through the completion of tasks, and those have to be done every season. Annoying, but like I said, if you're just after the journey, you don't really need them.

If anyone needs a run through whatever, let me know. I have a 60 pally that finished all the stuff, and it's kinda op for stuff. PM me for friend info etc

Okay, the Butcher gambling NPC is fucking stupid. I just need a magic bloody ring to complete the one season goal, and I've gotten nothing but rares and legendaries out of 100 purchases so far.

The nice thing is Paladin is stupid OP right now. Have been one or two-shotting most bosses while leveling on Expert with auras. Can't wait for the inevitable nerf bat when Lord of Hatred launches...

Not sure if you know this, but you do *not* need to clear the left pane of the season window (U on PC) with all the bonus objectives and rewards to move forward. All you have to do enable the next tier, is do what the right side of the window says "Clear The Pit on Level 10 to move to Torment 1" etc - that's it. The rest of the stuff on the left is fluff / extra gear fodder.

Better off rushing to 60, as right now you get double rewards from the Tree. You should be able to clear at least 1 caches in 10-15 minutes, add in Butcher caches, and you should be swimming in gear. I'll be on later if you want to run some stuff, I just hit 60 with a barb and a druid, but I can clear you all the way up to Torment IV in short order if you don't want to wait, including the season lvl 7 (bloodied Greater Lair boss on Torment IV) probably... that one was rough even on a paladin

Don't care about that. I just want the extra skill points.

But god dam, I hate the swords from the skies that insta kill you... When you are literally balls deep in leap/quake through large groups and explosions and the color of quake on the ground, you do not always see that sword come flying over and BAM! dead...
My build so far I can pretty much melt anything on T4, but some bosses on T3/T4 , 1 shot me like they are not even trying..

So stuck in pits trying to level up my glyph's still but only have 3x at 46 so far.... and 2 others at 33, Pit 51 seems to be the sweat spot where I don't die, or not as much (how I managed to unlock T4 after many tries at pit 55)

I have been going based on this build, but only got mostly the Mythic gear so far, so I may need to work on a Push build for pits I guess..

Here's to me wasting another 40 dollars on blizzard. Congrats blizz, I'm a sucker.

Not falling for it again. I'll play the new season of project diablo 2 on the 24th.

Ya, I will likely wait to see.....

It took me forever to even buy Diablo 4 until it went on a decent sale with the vessel add-on included.

Cool idea, but that song was terrible lol. So many better hard rock/metal bands they could have gotten if they wanted to go that route.

There was a bunch of failures with getting booted or logging in last night after the season launched. After all of that cleared up, I was able to work through some of the new story. I'm hoping I'll get a lot out of this one since I started late with the 1st expansion & last season.

I may give the expansion a try, I'm just not feelin D4 at all really. Could have been the monitor on the 9800x3d box. Just didn't work as well on a 5120x1440.

Maybe when I get the Intel 270k box up and going with a 4k, I'll give it a swing again.
