Is it just me or do other people see it? When ever I click on something it seems to want to double click right away. It gives me the feeling I have no control.

nope.
mouse sensitivity and double click speed (or mouse problems) are not the same thing. turn your double click speed up/down, see if it helps. or try another mouse.

The only time I see that is when my trackball needs to be replaced. After too much clicking one of the things that happens sometimes is the button will start double (or more) clicking with a single press. When I see it, time for a new one.

That is a mouse issue. An unfortunate side effect of all these super sensitive gaming mouse switches, they have no tolerance for even a little bit of wear and dust/crud build up. It had gotten so bad that the maximum lifetime of any mouse I had was about a year or two before they start to double click on single presses, it doesn't matter what brand of a mouse or what supposedly magical Omron switches it comes with, they are all shit durabilitywise, disposeable e-waste meant to be replaced often.

That is why I am now testing a mouse with all optical switches and wheel, Logitech G512X to be exact. Technically it should be immune to double clicking and wheel should be immune to back-and-forth twitching, it should work as long as the leds inside function but we'll see.

Anyway, you can try fixing it, there are guides and videos about how to take mouse apart and how to adjust and clean the switches etc. But it will not be a permanent fix.

What other people said, but also you can take chance/leap on looking for older driver versions for your specific mouse or older software install packages.

If all the built in control panel menu's don't help you or the software that already exists for the mouse.

But older driver versions of anything are often very hard to find or malware/virus infected based on where you find them. SO good luck!
