Took my build to Microcenter, just out of desperation, but it's a crazy busy day there, guy said 5 to 7 days to look at my system.

But he did a brief once over, looked at the Cable Mod cables, said hmm....pulled one out of my video card, said this Cable only has 6 pins in it, but the card is meant for 8 pins, even though the cable looks like an 8 pin it only has 6 pins in it.

He said take it back home and redo all the connections with the stock Seasonic cables, and see what happens?

Well look at that;

I didn't do trial an error with each individual Cable Mod wire one at a time, no. I swapped them all out for the stock Seasonic cables.

But what do you think caused this issue? Was it the video card cables? Or was it the big motherboard cable? I have no clue.

Issue is the vidyo card checks for presence of all the pins (or at least the ground pins). If any aren't present, the card either boots in a low power state or doesn't boot at all.

I'm not plugging back in the white Cable Mod cables again, it's a pain in the arse wiring up a clean new system. These Seasonic cables work and actually easier to bend.

F it, I have black wires in a white build, but I'm done messing around with the cables.

This was beyond frustrating to figure out. Now tonight I'll put the PSU in it's place and close up the case, then hook it up to my 38" Alienware Ultrawide and hopefully it boots up and I can just use the USB stick to get Windows install started.

But to do that, I need to get into the bios first right? To set up boot from USB or something?

Sorry for the noob questions, last fresh build I did from scratch was like 2017/2018..

It might just work, but if not you can usually hit f11 or something to select the boot device, or select it from the bios directly if you think you'll only need it once.

have you tore this thing down and just bench tested basic setup? Do you have a stock heatsink you can throw on the processor so you can test ?

Still a work in progress, will change out black back fan to a white one. I'm keeping the stock Seasonic cables and not messing with it.

One thing the AIO fans aren't kit up, they're spinning and working, just no LED's on.

Are the fans tied to the motherboard rgb header, or to usb?

Either way, you'll probably just need to install the motherboards rgb software if rgb header, or aio software if usb.

Pretty happy with how it turned out. Haven't built a system in years.

Great to see it up and running!!!

Thanks, same here :) The cables not jiving was a head scratcher to figure out, and I was even willing to have Microcenter rebuild it from scratch to figure it all out, but they'd want $300 and a week to do it, and I'm happy I did it myself.

Like I said way back in this thread I always plug a motherboard speaker in on my builds.
Maybe old school but the beep codes will help you trouble shoot issues
Bought a bag full of speakers off amazon

I am running Cable Mod cables to my PSU, should I ditch those white cables and go back to the stock black Seasonic cables?

But I agree, unplug most everything, and try it one by one. Should I keep the AIO plugged in as is?

What dimm slot should I put the one stick in fur testing?
Are they the correct CableMods cables for the Seasonic?

Even if they are, they're missing two wires in each of the 8p connectors (or it has two 6p connectors, hard to tell), so it won't work for this card.

Be careful with using the incorrect cables for the PS brand, when I bought mine they have a separate set for each EVGA PS.
