I showed this to my friend that I also play Warhammer: Vermintide II with and he said it was an instabuy for him. If it's good I'll follow suit. Pity that there isn't a release date yet.

There is nothing new on the gameplay. Dan Abenett, author of a lot of 40k novels, went somewhat into the lore of things (he said nothing that people familiar with the 40k universe don't already know) and the developers talked more about why they went with guard rather then space marines.

I looked this up and it's basically some working class pride thing.

I think it's just an excuse i have a feeling Space Marines wouldn't fit into the Left for Dead/Vermintide mold.

There's always Space Hulk. Not the greatest game but it's certainly pretty to look at and it nails the Warhammer aesthetic to perfection.

Space Hulk: Deathwing was kind of a disaster tbh. I gave it numerous goes eventually to give up due to the lack of weapon selections, how polished the game is, repetitive cycle... they recently released that bounty hunter Warhammer FPS and patched it, so I suppose there'll still be a decent wait until Darktide.

thats ok, Fat Shark needs all the time they can get anyway. Verm 2 is fun, but its a two step forward one step back for every patch they release.

The thing is there is too much space marine stuff for 40k and it sort of gets old after a while. That said there is a Chaos Gate coming out soon which is on my list.

Space Hulk is good but you need a dedicated group, maybe we should get one going? The game has issues but it's a blast.

That's not the worst thing. They brought Matt Ward, ruiner of all things 40k (he's hated beyond belief in the community and nobody will touch anything he's associated with now) on board. Stick a fork in it game is done and nobody who respects 40k is going to touch this now. It's over.

The man who singled handled wrecked the lore, destoryed multiple edittions via super powering army books of his own factions is part of this. Game is already over. There may be people who play it, but nobody who likes 40k will touch it. Burn the heritic, burn the game.

Unfortunately Space Marines 2 isn't safe, either. Check out the lead writer on that one ("Ashley" Cooper).

I still want to like this, it's just having played the tabletop since Rogue Trader and Fantasy since about the same time I'm hyper leery about anything with Ward involved since it always turned into utter shit. The man single handedly induced the most cringe inducing lore in 40k turning Grim Dark into Grim Derp and has changes are still utterly hated on now. His army books and rules changes were so catastrophic they resulted in Fantasy dying off and turning into Age of Sigmar and 40k's 8th edition being even more radical departure from the rules since the leap from 2E to 3E and it was not for the better resulting in people fleeing 40k for Battletech.

He single handled turned the Ultramarines into a laughing stock. Before Ward came about they were the generic Space Marine Chapter. They didn't pack special units like the Blood Angels or Dark Angels and they didn't have a totally different Codex on all units like the Space Wolves. They were sort of bland but respectable because they didn't bring cheese to the tabletop and their story was kinda cool. Ward comes around and they generate more special characters than any other list (while the other "generic" chapters in the codex got none) the fluff gets written that they are the best ever, everyone looks up to them and thinks they are the best and even other first founding chapters wish they could be them (which is insane), and their Codex gets juiced to the gills to the point where they get an insane amount of stuff nobody else gets. The entire shit show turned the Ultramarines into the most mockable Mary Sue Chapter ever.... and then he got onto the Grey Knights and oh good god.

That's still not the worst! In Warhammer Fantasy he wrote the Chaos Daemons book, a book so broken that the next tier down books (Vampire Counts, Skaven, and Dark Elves) were lucky if they could get a tie... on a rare ocassion. That book single handedly destroyed Warhammer Fantasy. And keep in mind Vampire Counts, Skaven, and Dark Elves were already so broken most other armies should pack up and go home, but they couldn't touch Chaos Daemons.

He also designed their LoTR games and LORD OF THE FUCKING RINGS SHOULD PRINT MONEY, but it did not, because Ward is bad, and he should feel bad. So instead it failed and is an example of turning gold into dog shit only topped by Trump managing to bankrupt a casino and destroy a football league.

Most of this, and more is covered in that long Reddit and there is even more than in that Reddit.

EDIT: I also forgot he broke the psychic phase in 40k. For those not familiar with 40k the phases roughly break down into movement, shooting, assault, psychic. Psyker powers range from the mundane to totally shifting the battle focus and their cost to cast and risk of casting increases as this goes up. But Ward released "lash" for Slaneesh. This is still widely regarded as the most broken thing ever. For virtually no cost and no risk you moved an enemy unit 2d6. Not only did this rip things out of cover, put things out of charge range for assaulting, throw things into dangerous terrain or obstacles, put heavy weapons teams out of line of sight, all of which are game breakers in their own, you could give the power to multiple daemon princes, some of the most powerfull, hard to kill, and points efficient HQ unit options in the game.

This lead to the dominance of the entire meta for years of Lash Princes where Chaos either Space Marines or Daemons pretty much took dual Lash Princess and that build would curb stomp anything you ran up against. Now you might think "oh well broken stuff happens" but not only was this more broke then broken he also wrecked the lore, resulting in a wreck on the models. Slannesh went from punk rock Space Marines who go to orgies with hot daemon girls and distilling human beings down into cocaine and eat their souls and have a litteral dildo (the rod of slannesh) and bondage whip (a weapon called lash of slannesh that is not the same as the spell) as god tier weapons to... perfectionists who only care about perfection and all the sex, drugs, and rock and roll was ripped out from them. Here's a visual, Slannesh Noise Marine before Ward, and after Ward, and the remake they did because people hated the newer ones so much. You figure out which is which it's not hard. And this wasn't done because of SJWs those came way later than this train wreck. This was soley done because Ward wanted to.

Run from Ward. His insertion into any project should send people running for the hills and is beyond an insult to the community.

I still play Vermintide II today. Hopefully I can afford a copy of this by the time it comes out, looking forward to it.
