It's amazing how many people don't see the writing on the wall. As soon as people like my FIL and my Dad were duped into signing in with their <insertaccounthere> account on new OEM Windows computers and that was then associated with an MS account I knew where MS was headed. It'll be slow and...
I'm not sure what that has to do with a factory reset. My OPNsense box has never needed to be factory reset. It only reboots during software upgrades that I kick off and if power goes out I simply click the power button and it's all well and good.
Honestly at this point you couldn't pay me to...
Yeah I found it. I remember that. I actually just loaded up Manjaro to test this. I enabled the AUR in their Package Manager UI and installed ipscan right from there. No issues at all. I didn't know they had that ability in their UI. Nice stuff.
Basically it is really nitty gritty fine grained control type stuff in case something breaks. But those are also people doing crazy things, knowing it could break shit. Most users will never need to even think about because simply running sudo apt upgrade or sudo pacman -Syu (or paru in my...
Package Managers can do different things different ways but in the end they all install the software from the repos.
Some people consider APT to be a more feature rich manager than Pacman. At the same time Pacman is far faster than APT is. In the end it really doesn't matter.

Even Arch Linux and it's AUR hasn't seen any malware since 2018. There's been no reports of malware in Arch Linux repos ever that I can find a reference to. Ubuntu is the same way.
What about just using multiple users on the Android device? I have never done it so I don't know what restrictions can be put in place but may be worth looking at.
At that point I would lojack the phone with an MDM of some sort. It's too bad you can't use the built in profiles of iOS by default. They force you into needing a work/school account. The parental controls also don't appear to limit access to WiFi which is fucking stupid.
Isn't the...
What in the world are you talking about?
Each DE pulls in it's own dependencies and runs no problem. In the past I've run 5 or 6 different DEs on a system with no problem and no crazy issues with libraries and/or dependencies. Removing those DEs and their dependencies it just as easy.
Your other reply a few pages ago was one of the best I've read on these forums.
I'm with you on the KDE train. Although I'm just KDE on Arch.
If you actually want to LEARN (yes it means you have to put forth some effort for a change) Linux you get choice. Don't like stock Gnome? Add some...
