I am surprised that there is no 16:9 monitor between 32 and 42 inches. I think a 37” size would be great personally, especially in offices. Strangely this used to be a common TV size but I guess everyone has moved on to newer sheet of glass sizes...

I have. I fully understand viewing angle and visual arc lengths. I have been setting up my home theater projectors and screens since the original LCOS machines and have written my own screen distance calculator. A 27" 1440p and 42" 4k monitor are...

I have a D2 top 1% ranking (not that that’s so great) and have dipped into the 0.1% rankings despite being an old ‘un. Only saying it because that’s my point of reference for playing 42” 120hz. I used to be intensely into CS 1.6 and CSS and...

I had both the original Voodoo and 2 Voodoo2 too (try saying that fast 😀) and the thrill of seeing 3d games running butter smooth with that special less grainy “voodoo” look was genuinely exciting at the time. The only slight bummer was the video...

The other difference between brands is panel grade selection and mounting/monitor assembly. The former is the item to item quality of the panel with things like backlight uniformity and dead sub pixel guarantees and the latter can also affect...

You can adjust FOV to increase your viewable real estate in games that support it (basically a camera zoom feature) - most fps and tps games have an adjustment, but games won’t do it automatically based on different 16:9 resolutions, which makes...

There are many 34" options out there, no need to "drop down" to anything.

Yeah I would definitely agree. My first reaction was dislike until I got used to it and used it instinctively. The main reason I brought it up is that there are 7.99 remotes on amazon with free shipping that look identical but without motion if...

I had both the TNT and 2, bot died. I’m pretty sure the TNT had a very cheap fan that failed and killed it but don’t remember what the issue was with the TNT2.

The 32” 240hz 4k OLEDs should start shipping next year if you can hold on for a bit but I expect they will be more expensive than the 42” “TV” models.

That’s a good point- hopefully there’s enough variety out there once monitors start shipping to satisfy whichever flavor people prefer.

Do you see the same issues over hdmi? I would take 120hz over all the issues you are describing.

I think both LG and Samsung Display (the panel making divisions not the monitor making divisions) are selling these 32” 4k 240hz panels to the usual suspects (MSI, Asus et al.) I wonder if all the curved panels are from Samsung and all the flats...

Curved 16:9? Not for me, that gimmick is dead. Ultra wide screens I can see but this is just not for me.

    sethk replied to the thread 32" 4K, or 27" 4K - Can't decide.
Since LCDs have a fixed DPI and you have to choose big steps for scaling in windows - 125%, 150% etc. you may find one scale size too small and the other too large which was my particular experience with 27”. I had to use a larger scale size...

Square in. per zone is just a strange metric when comparing a monitor to a 85” tv IMO - pixels per zone or per degree to equalize view distance would show how much superior the 5000 zones would be all else being equal (and if anything I bet the...

I would recommend against a 27 4k with windows (IMHO) unless there’s a huge price gap for your selected 27 and 32” choice. None of the scaling options looked just right to me with my first 27 4k and I ended up trading up to a 32” for work which...

I’m with Zarathustra on this never heard of it or experienced it and I’m an 80s kid. I’ve parked my face in front of crts for extended periods of time and other than normal flushed face from dying 800 times in a row from missed jumps in TMNT or a...

The 2405 was from 2005, I still have one laying around in the storeroom, as it refused to die. The calibrated contrast on that was about 620:1 - the biggest upgrade when I changed off of this monitor in the past was the off axis color and the...
