Another option to look at is the Apple A1306 Dual-Link DVI to MiniDP adapter + MiniDP to DP adapter if you can find one used.
These are active adapters designed for the 30" Cinema Displays they used to sell.
I have the 2TB version of this. Purchased in Jan 2020 while in Japan. Finally got around to installing it last week - already dead. Opened laptop from sleep, all my icons and such in start were missing, etc. Rebooted, infinite automatic repair loop. Put original Samsung PM961 back into laptop to...
I just ended up picking up another X5650 for 8 shipped on eBay. Going to throw it on the last X58 mobo I have that still has an i7. lol
It's getting crazy how dirt cheap the lower models are becoming. I wish the higher X5680/5690 would creep down in price tho for my Dell T5500.
I've seen these a few times now in game shops in Tokyo for around 35,000 yen to 45,000 yen. The black one was made for some of the special edition Dreamcasts that were sold there in Japan.
I ended up getting a BBA with a Dreamcast at a Hard-Off for 7000 yen. I gave the Dreamcast to a friend...
How would this compare against a Samsung PM981 (I think the retail variant is 970 EVO Plus)
I picked up a 1TB PM981 from eBay for 100 + 7 in shipping.
While it was a steal, I'm curious about this one too for future builds.
(I also picked up 4x256GB PM981 from the same seller for another 100...
This. I bought a GTX1070 Founders Edition that smelt of smoke when I went to Japan last year from a used shop. (Got it for around 160 USD because of this)
Took it all apart, hot soapy water and then blue shower to the entire cooler and all the components, then hosed the board down multiple...
Do you know of any smaller ones that have all this? 55" is a bit much for me personally, haha.
I don't think they say too much about it because they want to sell you those ultrawide gaming monitors they make too. ;)
You could always try selling them.
There may be people who have coolers or whatever for those cards. I'm one of them.
I bought a long while back a junk lot on eBay of 4 760Ti (OEM 670s). 2 didn't work at all with one looking like it went through an ocean and the other catching on fire on the...
A GPU is usually attached via a 16-lane PCIExpress connector.
Using the mini PCIe connector where the WiFi card came out is a 1-lane PCIe connector.
There isn't that huge of a difference with a lot of cards because the 16-lanes at 500MB/s per lane is still plenty, unless you start to move into...
