Keep the AM4 platform and just wait until you can get a good deal on a 5800x or better. I imagine there will be a time soon when they will essentially go on clearance/get cheaper on used...something.

I've got a GP-P750GM PSU that is dead. It wasn't an explosive SN, but it has always been weak sauce, so never used it much. Now it is dead. Is it even worth trying to RMA it?

Got my Reverb... with glasses, it is kinda annoying, but workable. Flight Sim in VR is fantastic. It completely changes the way it feels. I know my body is being tricked because when I go into a turn, my body expects to feel the plane banking...

This is what I think too... Think about a 4790k from eight years ago paired with a 1080ti...it can handle a lot. Ray tracing is about all it can't do. Maybe a year and a half ago to play flight sim you needed more, but they redid it to make...

So what I did was to choose some offsets and then I used this utility called core cycler https://github.com/sp00n/corecycler and it just goes one by one through each core using P95. If the core fails with the given offset, it throws and error...

hive just makes it easy....worth it to sign up for hive just to flash a bios....

With a little ingenuity, this too could be your set up.

If you were mining with them using hiveos, under the overclocking menu there was a flash bios spot there. There, you can upload the bios file you wish to flash and there is a flag to override, allowing you to force in whatever bios you wish...

I have a 5800x paired to a thermalright peerless assassin 120. It seems to be able to handle 170w with P95 small FFTs at which point temps make it to the 90s...so something is causing your unit to throttle early. I'm not sure what your cooler is...

I am working on a "new" build of some recycled parts for an office machine and I put a card reader in... I have an old case has a vacant 3.5 bay that used to have a floppy...cheap way to plug it. ALSO, John Deere Greenstar 2600 displays still...

Nice choice. Who knows what AM5 will be like....may be buggy to start with. The 5800x may last you years. I have a 5800x paired to a thermalright peerless assassin 120. It seems to be able to handle 170w at which point temps make it to the 90s.

well here's what I ended up happening. Initial intention was the cheap mobo and the 2700x. Slept and woke up maybe the 5600x with the discount ($140) is cheap enough to make it worth my while. Went to MC and opted for the 5800x (250$ after...

I shut off a rig of RX 580s today. It was in the black, but just barely....and before I factor in the AC runs harder. A month ago I shut down the 4gb rig. All I have running are 3000 series cards and a KD5. Not sure what is next to get shut down.

What sort of htpc stuff are you going to do? As someone doing the media PC thing, it really does make my wheels turn on a potential direction. One thought...go for AM4 with a 5600x. That leaves a pretty big upgrade path for a 5900x or 5950x or...

I said broke... I got it soldered back on, but then when putting it together it broke off again, but this time it broke clear back at the base of the cap. And yes, it is a "5" unless it also runs at 2.Sv

I have a gigabyte 3080 that a capacitor just broke off while doing some thermal pad replacements. Tabs must have been weak. it reads on the top: 5KB10 820 2.5v I can't figure out what the first line is trying to convey. Any help?

Did you just get the card or did the problem just spring up? Have you verified the ram type by reading the chips?
